Mike Tyson confirms Floyd Mayweather fight plans

The heavyweight legend has addressed his potential fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather announced in September that they would face off in an exhibition match in 2026.

A period of silence followed the announcement, sparking speculation that the bout had fallen through.

Tyson later confirmed, however, that the fight was indeed moving forward, with potential venues in Africa under consideration.

However, 18-time kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis has since made the surprising claim that he will be facing Mayweather on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

As it stands, no official confirmation has been made regarding Mayweather’s next bout.

But despite that, Tyson is confident that his plans to fight ‘Money’ still stand.

During a conversation with TMZ Sports executive producer, Michael Babcock, he said: “Yeah, it’s happening.

“S***, yeah, it’s happening!

“You think I’d give that up?

“I was minding my business, he challenged me!

“We are going to party afterwards, baby! We’ll have a ball afterwards!”

Mike Tyson is coming off a controversial clash with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in November 2024.

Tyson went the distance that night but appeared a shadow of his former self, and hasn’t fought since.

Meanwhile, Mayweather’s last professional bout came in 2017 when he stopped Conor McGregor in the 10th round of their bout.

Since then, he has had numerous exhibition fights.

Aside from allegedly fighting both Tyson and Zambidis this year, Mayweather has also been linked to facing former foe Manny Pacquiao.

During their first outing in 2015, Mayweather outpointed Pacquiao in what remains the most lucrative boxing match in history.

As it stands, ‘Money’s fate is yet to be decided.
