A deal has been agreed for Conah Walker to fight Sam Eggington, with the date and location revealed for this mouth-watering fight.
A potential British blockbuster between Conah Walker (17-3-1, 8ko’s) and Sam Eggington (36-9, 20ko’s) has been agreed.
This will bolster Matchroom Boxing’s UK schedule, with the location revealed for this fight.
Eddie Hearn has recently announced Callum Smith vs David Morrell, George Liddard vs Tyler Denny, and Pat Brown vs Vasil Ducar for their UK schedule.
It has been a successful 2026 for Matchroom Boxing in the UK thus far, gaining two new world champions in marquee divisions.
Dalton Smith stopped Subriel Matias in January at the Barclays Center in New York.
Most recently, Josh Kelly won a majority decision against Bakhram Murtazaliev in Newcastle to crown himself IBF light middleweight champion.
A man that was close to a world title opportunity was Conah Walker.
Walker dramatically stopped Pat McCormack last December in Monaco.
The Wolverhampton born welterweight was in the running to be Lewis Crocker’s first defence of his IBF welterweight title.
Despite both being under the same promotional outfit, Crocker’s mandatory in Alberto Puello was ordered, leaving Walker without a fight.
A simple call out on social media from Sam Eggington throwing his name into the hat seems to have done the trick.
According to BoxingScene.com “A deal has been reached for Conah Walker to face Sam Eggington on May 2 in Wolverhampton, England!”
Sam Eggington is a modern day British boxing cult hero.
Despite 9 defeats on the record, Eggington impressed last time out, defeating Lee Cutler as an away fighter on a BOXXER show.
It’s two fighters that never disappoint when they enter the squared circle, and a brilliant addition to a busy upcoming period for British boxing.
