Former eight-division world champion joins team-based boxing league.
Manny Pacquiao is the greatest Filipino boxer that has ever lived. Of this, there is no doubt. The little terror from Kibawe had an outrageous professional career, winning 12 titles across 8 divisions and posting wins over 22 different world champions.
The achievements of ‘PacMan’ make him not just the greatest from his country, but one of the greatest from any country. Just as recently as 2025, in fact, Pacquiao returned to the ring at the age of 46 and challenged for the WBC welterweight title. Though he officially drew, he won in the eyes of most.
And now it is being officially announced that Pacquaio has joined Team Boxing League (“TBL”) as league ambassador, future owner, and team captain.
Team Combat League is a team-based professional boxing league that features teams bringing 24 fighters (two from each weight class) to compete in one-round fights across a total of 24 action-packed rounds. Once all 24 rounds are over, the scores of each round are tallied up, and the team with the highest score wins.
Manny Pacquiao will first make his appearance this year as league ambassador for season 4, then his role in the league will progress from team captain to owner across the next three seasons from 2027 to 2029.
As team captain, Pacquiao is even expected to fight for the San Diego TJ’s in a bout that will be “competitive” and is set to be announced in the next few months.
Speaking of his joining of the league, Pacquiao stated, “I believe in the vision of TBL and what this league is building for the future of boxing.” He further said, “Team boxing brings a new level of excitement, strategy, and opportunity for fighters and fans. I’m proud to be part of TBL and look forward to contributing both inside and outside the ring.”
