It’s expected that the news will clarify any questions on the star’s future in the sport.
Teofimo Lopez has been out of action since losing his WBO 140lbs title to Shakur Stevenson in January via unanimous decision.
Following that defeat, the American announced a move up to welterweight.
However, no further updates have emerged regarding his next steps in the division.
His manager, Keith Connolly, has now teased a major announcement.
Connolly told BoxingScene: “I’m not going to say anything yet, but there’ll be big news probably next week dropping on Teofimo.
“I think it’s going to blow everybody away.
“Let’s wait a week and a half. There’s going to be gigantic news.
“Like I said, I think it’ll blow people away, the move we’re making coming off the Shakur Stevenson fight, and it’s all positive things.
“It’s not a bad announcement.
“It’s an amazing announcement, and you’ll hear something next week.”
What could the news be?
Teofimo Lopez is believed to be finalising an agreement to face the WBA welterweight champion, Rolando Romero, in August.
According to a report from the Review-Journal, the pair are set to share the ring in Las Vegas.
Although a venue for the fight has not yet been determined, August 22 is being touted as a possible date, according to their sources.
Their matchup would be the first title defence of the WBA 147lbs title for Romero.
As well as Lopez’s first bout after moving to the division.
