Another obstacle must be overcome before the pair can share the ring.
Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia have been embroiled in a verbal back-and-forth for months over a potential clash.
Garcia even announced the fight was officially scheduled for September 12 in Las Vegas during an interview with Jimmy Fallon.
But Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions claimed he had been left out of negotiations and insisted he must be involved for it to proceed.
It’s believed further broadcast complications remain, with Zuffa linked to a deal involving Paramount and Sky Sports, while Golden Boy is exclusively tied to DAZN.
Now, Benn’s manager, Keith Connolly, has confirmed that his fighter has signed on the dotted line.
Connolly told BoxingScene: “I know our side is signed and we’re ready for the fight.
“We’re in. I think Ryan is in.
“I think he has some issues that he’s got to work out with his network, his promoter, but that’s his business. It’s not really mine.
“I’ve heard the rumours. I’ve heard things, but I don’t want to comment on something unless it’s my fighter.”
The WBC title will be on the line for Garcia-Benn in their blockbuster clash, but Connolly has suggested that will not create any further issues for the matchup.
Despite Zuffa stating that they do not wish to work with the traditional four sanctioning bodies.
“When we made the move to Zuffa, we contacted Mauricio Sulaiman.
“We told him we love the WBC. It’s always been Conor’s dream.
“We’ve always represented that we want to win the WBC, and they were happy to hear from us, and no problems whatsoever.”
