Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro has officially been postponed after the Belfast born champion has suffered a hand injury.
Lewis Crocker (22-0, 11ko’s) became IBF welterweight world champion in 2025, defeating fellow Irishmen Paddy Donovan in their anticipated rematch.
Crocker won via split decision in front of a hometown stadium crowd at Windsor Park in Belfast.
Having a piece of the welterweight crown will open up a plethora of opportunities for the 29 year old.
Unifications against Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero are all future pay days.
However, Crocker must take care of tricky mandatory Liam Paro (27-1, 18ko’s).
Paro is a former IBF super lightweight world champion.
Paro has notable wins against Montana Love and Subriel Matias.
His only blemish on an impressive record come to the hands of Richardson Hitchins, via a split decision in Puerto Rico.
From Queensland, Paro’s promotion No Limit Boxing narrowly outbid Matchroom Boxing in the purse bid for the fight.
April 5th was the scheduled date for this fight in Australia.
Ausboxing has reported that “Liam Paro’s world title showdown with IBF champion Lewis Crocker has been postponed”.
“The defending champion Lewis Crocker has suffered a suspected hand injury”.
“A new date for the high-stakes IBF world title clash will be announced over the coming weeks”.
While suffering an injury is not ideal for any fighter, this will give Crocker more time to gel with his new trainer.
Crocker parted ways with Billy Nelson shortly after his rematch victory.
Huzaifah ‘H’ Iqbal, who trains out of Adam Booth’s gym, will steward ‘the Croc’ when they touch down in Australia for this fight.
