The rescheduling of Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro for the IBF world welterweight title has officially been rescheduled
It was a fight scheduled for March initially, however, a hand injury to the champion postponed this welterweight title fight.
The story of Lewis Crocker has been nothing short of incredible.
A Belfast boy, Crocker upset the odds in a rematch with fellow Irishman Paddy Donovan to win the vacant IBF world welterweight title in 2025.
In a razor tight fight at Windsor Park, Crocker dropped Donovan twice in front of his hometown crowd, subsequently winning a split decision.
‘The Croc’ now holds a valuable piece of gold in one of the sports most commercially viable weight divisions.
Unification mega fights with the likes of Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Rolly Romero will be life-changing pay days for Crocker, but first of all, he must take care of mandatory business.
Crocker’s promotion Matchroom Boxing lost the purse bid to this title defence.
Therefore, promoted by No Limit Boxing, Lewis Crocker will face Liam Paro on June 24th in Brisbane, Australia.
Paro himself is a former world champion, down at super-lightweight.
In a bid to become a two weight world champion, Paro will have his hometown crowd supporting him.
George Rose, CEO of No Limit Boxing has shared his happiness to announce this fight, he stated:
“This isn’t smoke and mirrors, isn’t a manufactured fight”.
“These are two legitimate world level fighters risking everything”.
“We won the purse bid because we believed this fight belonged in Australia and now Brisbane gets a world title event that will absolutely deliver,”.
A final eliminator to see who is next in line for a shot at this belt is taking place in Germany this weekend.
Paddy Donovan looks to bounce back against Karen Chukhadzhian.
Should Crocker and Donovan both be victorious, an all Irish world title trilogy would be massive for Irish boxing.
