Legal action continues to come Turki Al-Sheikh and SELA’s way as legendary promoter files a lawsuit over contractual breaches.
Turki Al-Sheikh and SELA were working with all the promoters when they first entered the sport of boxing, but times are changing.
Dana White’s ZUFFA Boxing are the new kids on the block, and with SELA financially backing them, they have started a war in the sport.
Last Friday, the boxing world was rocked when ZUFFA announced the signing of British star Conor Benn, who had been promoted by Matchroom Boxing for his entire career.
Sending shockwaves through the sport, Dana White has called other promoters ‘babies’ and p*ssies”.
They intend to disregard the recognised governing bodies, the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF.
Additionally, they pledge to revolutionise the sport, wiping out all the existing promoters.
Dana White’s UFC have monopolised Mixed Martial Arts, and this is their intention for boxing.
Resistance from the boxing world has been strong, and lawsuits against ZUFFA, Turki, and Dana White have ensued.
Just this week, Queensberry Promotions and Frank Warren have pledged to begin legal proceedings for $1 billion against these parties.
It has now been revealed they are not the only promoter to strike a legal pursuit of SELA.
According to BoxingScene: “Don King Productions has filed a lawsuit against Ring Magazine, Sela, Michael Hunter and the WBA after a heavyweight fight between Hunter and Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller was announced that DKP claims was in breach of its promotional agreement with Hunter”.
“Multiple players within boxing induced and colluded with each other to misrepresent the rights and contract between Don King and his fighter,” King attorney Alejandro Brito told BoxingScene on Thursday night after filing the lawsuit in Broward County, Florida.
