Kell Brook announces professional comeback

Brook teases big news coming soon.

Throughout boxing history, there have been many examples of a fighter returning from an absence outside of the ring to compete in the sport once again.

The most famous of these would be George Foreman’s return to become heavyweight world champion at 45 years old, though there have been others, as well.

From Tyson Fury to Vinny Pazienza, the reasoning may vary, but boxing fans love a good comeback story, especially when they are most improbable.

Fighters, of course, are known for battling back from adversity, and that is often just as true in life as it is in the ring, even more so in certain instances.

A good recent example would be Anthony Joshua, who lost two close friends in a car crash in December. Then last month, he would get up off the canvas twice in the first round to knock out Kristian Prenga in his comeback fight.

Former welterweight world champion Kell Brook has faced his own personal hardships, and he is now close to making his own return.

Having retired after a 2022 stoppage of rival Amir Khan, Brook has now stated to talkSPORT Boxing, “I’m tellin’ you somethin’ here and now: there’s some massive news about to drop, yeah? I’m comin’ back, yeah? … It’s gonna be a massive fight comin’ your way.”

Brook didn’t speak on who the opponent was, but said, “All I’ll say to you is, we won’t be waitin’ too much longer before we announce a massive fight, yeah? And I’m tellin’ you, it’s about done.”

With an event against Eisa Al Dah in honour of Ricky Hatton falling through, many have speculated that the 40-year-old Yorkshireman could be returning in an all-British affair against Chris Eubank Jr.
