Fisher reveals big offer from Zuffa.
As one of the most popular British heavyweights not operating at the elite level, Johnny Fisher’s recent announcement of being a free agent would have had a number of promoters interested.
“The Romford Bull” has one of the most loyal followings on the U.K. side of the sport, and he does indeed happen to be a big man with a big punch.
Having started his career under Matchroom Boxing, it was a wonder who Fisher would potentially sign with next, having stated he was open to anyone with a suitable offer.
Well, he has now stated that he has received an offer from someone, and this offer has led to a lot of discussion from many fans of the sport.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Fisher stated, “I’ve been made an offer by Zuffa [Boxing] … and I’ve put that to Eddie [Hearn]. I spoke to Eddie a couple of weeks before all of this happened when it was coming to the end of our contractual agreement, and [I] said, ‘Look, I’m probably in a position now where I’ve gotta hear from the rest of the market before I make a decision.’
“I mean, I’ve got one career. Gotta make the correct choice for me, and we’ve had a frank and honest discussion. I’ve been in comms with Eddie ever since that point, and I messaged him last night before my manager put the [proposed] agreement to him … and said, ‘Look, Eddie, I’ve been made an offer. Offer’s come through this mornin'” to Eddie on email.
“And it’s just the offer that I’ve been made. I’m really excited that I’ve been made that offer, but I just wanna see what can be done.”
Continuing, Fisher said, “But yeah, it’s an excitin’ time for me. And I mean, the money is one thing. And the fights that I’m bein’ asked to have for it, it’s sorta 6 or 7 times what I’ve been offered by Eddie, so I’ve gotta consider it and I’ve gotta put that towards Eddie, surely.”
Fisher ultimately stated that he is waiting for Matchroom to match the offer that Zuffa has presented to him.
