John Fury casts doubt on son Tyson’s fight with Anthony Joshua

John Fury doubts his son’s bout with Joshua will happen.

The entire boxing world is crossing its fingers that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally be standing on opposite ends of the ring from each other later this year.

November is the month has has been slated, and there is reportedly already a contract in place. However, as close as it seems, it has always felt lightyears away.

That’s because every time this fight has looked like it’s going to be made, something has happened, and the house of cards that has been so carefully put together has come tumbling down.

But there’s a different feeling to it this time, a feeling that we will finally get what we want. And should Joshua get past Kristian Prenga and Fury get past his rumoured tune-up, that should theoretically be the case.

It’s one very big, very magnificent bubble, and Tyson’s father John has just had a go at bursting it.

In an interview with iFL TV, John Fury has stated, “Do you know something? The longer this bloody thing goes on–you know what they say about a dinner left on the table too long: it goes cold, and I think we’re headin’ towards that now.

“You know, boxin’ is changin’ by the minute and the hour. As we speak, it’s changin’. Shifts are changin’. But all the noises bein’ made around–X, Y, Z–they’re just givin’ me doubts.

“You know, let these two men have a fight as soon as possible. That’s all I can say. Get ’em in the ring as soon as possible. ‘Cause soon, nobody’s gonna have any money to pay ’em.”

Concluding, John said, “Big heavyweights. It’s only one shot, mate. [They’ve] proved it time and time again. The unexpected can happen, and I don’t want that to spoil it. Again, it’s been 10 years in the makin’, and I don’t want this to be the fight that never happened, and that’s what I’m frightened of. The longer it goes, the more doubtful I am.”
