Joe Joyce targetting rematch with former foe

The British heavyweight has high aspirations upon his return.

Joe Joyce is gearing up to take on Artem Suslenkov on the Murat Gassiev vs Tony Yoka undercard in Moscow on July 11.

Joyce is looking to rebuild momentum after a difficult run of form, having recorded just one win since back-to-back defeats to Zhilei Zhang in 2024.

Despite recent setbacks, the 40-year-old remains confident he can return to world level.

In fact, he hopes to do so against former foe Daniel Dubois.

The ‘Juggernaut’ inflicted serious damage on Dubois when he handed him his first professional loss in 2020.

Although ‘DDD’ has since gone on to become a two-time heavyweight world champion.

Joyce explained to Sky Sports: “It’s always an attractive option.

“Before I took Zhang, which was obviously a bad decision, I was WBO Interim [champion] off the back of beating Dubois and Parker.

“So it’s just like a bit of a mistake that I’m going to rectify now.”

When he last fought, Joyce went the distance in a surprisingly competitive bout against Filip Hrgovic.

The contest proved tougher than many expected against the Croatian heavyweight.

However, Joyce has since been out of action for 14 months.

He now returns against Suslenkov, hoping to re-spark his career.

The unbeaten Russian represents a dangerous test after a long spell out of the ring.
