Jake Paul showed his cojones last December facing Anthony Joshua, but ahead of his return he has ruled one world champion he will never face.
Hated by many, but ignored by few, Jake Paul (12-2, 7ko’s) has made waves in the scene since he first picked up a pair of gloves in 2018.
The crossover sensation began boxing on the influencer scene, but it is now unjustified to label him an ‘influencer boxer’.
Since becoming a professional, Jake Paul has stacked up an impressive resume of combat sport stars for a raw novice.
Wins over Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, Mike Perry and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr even placed the man from Ohio in the WBA cruiserweight top 15 rankings at one stage.
Last December, Jake Paul did what few believed he could, and that is share the ring with an active former two time unified world champion in Anthony Joshua (29-4, 27ko’s).
Originally, ‘El Gallo’ was scheduled to face Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28ko’s) in an exhibition bout.
Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions pulled the fight due to the arrest and ongoing legal controversies around Gervonta Davis.
AJ was the replacement, and a professional 8 round contest took place in Miami on December 19th.
Joshua won by a brutal knockout blow in round 6, but many commended Paul for sharing the ring with one of the best modern day heavyweights.
The highlight reel knockout broke the 29 year old’s jaw in two places, and his return to the ring is likely for late 2026.
His last fight highlights Paul is not afraid of testing himself against the best, but there is one active world champion ‘the problem child’ wants no part of.
Speaking to ESPN, Jake Paul stated: “There’s a short list of people that I wouldn’t want to step in the ring with, and David Benavidez is on that list”.
Nicknamed as ‘the Monster’, David Benavidez (31-0, 25ko’s) moves up to cruiserweight for the first time on May 2nd.
He will challenge Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez (48-1, 30ko’s) for the Mexican’s WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles on Cinco De Mayo weekend in Las Vegas.
