Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions have announced that Claressa Shields is banned from all MVP events for the foreseeable future.
After so much success in the sport of boxing, Saturday marked Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) first foray into the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA).
Since entering the sport of boxing, Jake Paul has caused major disruption, as a fighter and a promoter.
MVP have taken a huge focus to women’s boxing, and have ultimately transformed it.
It all started with Amanda Serrano, and her famous trilogy with Katie Taylor has been a huge part of their journey.
As of today, MVP have landmark broadcast deals with ESPN and Sky Sports.
Not only this, their stable of female talent is vast, and women’s boxing has grown massively from a commercial standpoint.
One of the standout names on their roster is Alycia Baumgardner.
The unified super featherweight world champion was in attendance at MVP’s inaugural MMA show that included Ronda Rousey, Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz.
Baumgardner engaged in a heated back and forth with the self proclaimed ‘GWOAT’ Claressa Shields.
Shields slapped Baumgardner, and in the aftermath, MVP have released a statement stating:
“Most Valuable Promotions is aware of the incident during MVP’s Rousey vs Carano event on Saturday night involving physical contact by Claressa Shields toward Alycia Baumgardner,”.
MVP maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for hostile, threatening, or aggressive behavior toward fighters, staff, media, or guests at any of our events.
“Physical altercations outside the ring or cage are unacceptable in any MVP environment.
“MVP does not condone, tolerate, or accept Claressa Shields’ behavior in that setting.
“And it reflects poorly on MVP and women’s sports, which we have worked tirelessly to uplift.
“Effective immediately, Claressa Shields is banned from all MVP events until further notice.
“There is a time and a place for fighter tension and banter”.
