Jack Catterall fight announcement imminent

WBO welterweight number one Jack Catterall has taken to X revealing a fight announcement is hopeful for this week.

Very few fighters have staked a claim for a world title shot more than a certain Jack Catterall (32-2, 14ko’s).

The man from Chorley has seemed to be on the cusp of achieving a lifelong dream for a number of years now.

Catterall was on the wrong end of what many regard as one of the biggest robberies in recent boxing history in 2022.

The southpaw was defeated by Josh Taylor (19-3, 13ko’s)by split decision in Scotland, a decision that prevented Catterall from becoming the undisputed super lightweight champion of the world.

Since that crushing moment in Glasgow, Catterall rebuilt.

Under the stewardship of Jamie Moore, Catterall defeated Taylor in a rematch, as well as dominating former world champion Regis Prograis (30-3, 24ko’s).

Now with Bozy Ennis in the States, Catterall is in prime position for a world title shot at welterweight.

Last time out, Catterall stopped Ekow Essuman (22-2, 8ko’s) in an impressive performance.

Managed by the outspoken Sam Jones, he is now number one for WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney (33-0, 15ko’s).

With all the talk of Devin Haney unifying against WBA champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero (17-2, 13ko’s), it seems Catterall will take a fight in the interim.

The rumour mill in recent months has suggested that the opponent will be former unified world champion Jose Ramirez (29-3, 18ko’s).

Speaking to X, Catterall stated that:

“My team is working hard on my next fight it’s a frustrating time but I hope to have some news in the next couple of days”.

It is expected that Catterall will be headlining in his American debut.
