IBF title fight to headline Zuffa Boxing 10 card

Zuffa Boxing 10 to be headlined by IBF title fight.

Zuffa Boxing and the IBF already have somewhat of a history despite the former’s short presence in the sport.

When it rocked up onto the scene, Zuffa made it clear that they would not be recognising any of the sanctioning bodies’ titles. So, when news came that Zuffa had signed Jai Opetaia (the IBF cruiserweight champion) a few months ago, people were left wondering just what type of situation this would create.

Well, Opetaia was ultimately stripped of his belt when his Zuffa Boxing title fight with Brandon Glanton went ahead.

A similar thing happened when Zuffa signed Richardson Hitchins in April, with the American choosing to give up his IBF super-lightweight title shortly after.

Despite this, however, it has now been announced that Zuffa’s next show is set to feature a fight for the vacant IBF middleweight title in the main event.

The trinket will be fought for between Aaron McKenna (20-0, 10 KOs) and Etinosa Oliha (22-0, 10 KOs), the latter of whom was previously set to fight Shakiel Thompson for the belt before Thompson’s stoppage loss to Brad Pauls.

McKenna (who is coming off a decision victory over Liam Smith) will receive home advantage on the night, as he will battle Italy’s Oliha in his country’s capital of Dublin, Ireland.

Also on the card will be a bout between another Irishman in Callum Walsh (16-0, 11 KOs), who will be squaring off with former Midlands Area, English, and European middleweight champion Tyler Denny (21-4-3, 1 KO).

The show will be taking place on the 8th of August and is seemingly set to be the first Zuffa bill to feature a title from one of the major organisations.
