IBF postpone purse bids for unified championship fight

Purse bids have been postponed until March 10th by the IBF for a light heavyweight title showdown between Dmitry Bivol and Michael Eifert

IBF’s Tuesday purse bid for 175 champ Dmitry Bivol & mandatory Michael Eifert was postponed for the fourth time.

Dmitry Bivol (24-1. 12ko’s) is a pound for pound star of the sport.

His slick Russian style with volume punching has seen him defeat every opponent he has faced.

Notable wins against Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39ko’s) and Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez (48-1, 30ko’s) placed him at the very top of the 175lbs rankings.

However, Bivol is most known for his famous rivalry with fellow Russian born Artur Beterbiev (21-1, 20ko’s).

Two fights of the highest level in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia had the boxing world invested.

The score is 1-1, and fight fans would love a third episode of this famous encounter.

For now, Bivol has a mandatory challenger to take care of.

Having had over 12 months out of the ring due to injury, it seems Bivol is ready to return.

The IBF have ordered a mandatory defence against Michael Eifert (13-1, 10ko’s).

Eifert himself has been extremely inactive as of late.

With his last fight taking place in August of 2024, he has certainly had to be patient.

Bivol is with Matchroom Boxing.

The further postponement of purse bids highlights that Matchroom and Eddie Hearn are hopeful to conclude a deal for this match-up.

Taking care of this mandatory is imperative for Bivol, with mega fights against the likes of Beterbiev and David Benavidez a possibility.

Purse bids are now scheduled for March 10.
