Hamzah Sheeraz claims WBO world title after devastating KO

The British fighter made his dream come true on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs Rico Verhoeven.

Hamzah Sheeraz faced Alem Begic tonight for the WBO super-middleweight belt.

Infront of the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the Ilford puncher sent Begic down with a crippling shot to the body.

Sheeraz came out strong form the opening bell, but the second round sealed the fate of Begic.

The 39-year-old German was met with a barrage of shots from Sheeraz.

Already gasping for air, Sheeraz landed a nasty left hook to his liver that saw him crashing down to the canvas.

Speaking post-fight, Sheeraz said: “It was simple. I knew he’d be very negative from the first punch.

“I just had to walk him down and get him out of there. And that’s what we done.”

After making the move up to 168lbs just last year, Sheeraz has now set his sights on a showdown with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
