Gervonta Davis in discussions to rematch old foe

Undefeated American may be set to run it back with previous opponent.

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) represents chaos in a way rarely seen in boxing.

The American’s numerous run-ins with the law have left his career with a huge black eye that many won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

This legal trouble is exactly what completely derailed a planned 2025 exhibition with Jake Paul, and it has soured many boxing fans to Davis as a whole.

Despite this, the Baltimore man’s talent was obvious for all to see. Indeed, Davis has long been seen as one of the most exciting fighters in the sport. And even when falling short on the cards, his explosive power had managed to bail him out.

For a while, Davis looked practically unmovable. Going 25-0 from 2013 to 2021, he had only gone the distance once.

He would go the distance for the second time against Isaac Cruz.

Cruz was one of the only fighters who could match Davis in style, and the Mexican pushed him all the way. And from his win over Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero to his viral defeat of Frank Martin, the Cruz fight was the most human Davis had ever looked.

That was until he took on Lamont Roach Jr. last year, receiving a draw that would have been a loss had it not been for a controversial no-knockdown call.

Since then, Cruz and Roach have taken each other on, and the two drew in yet another debated decision.

Now we are getting word that representatives for Davis and Cruz (28-3-2, 18 KOs) are having conversations regarding a rematch between the pair.

This would be an incredibly intriguing contest and would answer questions as to how much Davis has left. Cruz, meanwhile, would get the opportunity to gain revenge over the man who beat him over four years ago.
