Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has filed a countersuit for $20 million at ex-girlfriend over the collapse of the Jake Paul exhibition fight scheduled for late 2025.
It’s been 12 months of ring inactivity for Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0-1, 28ko’s), but that hasn’t stopped the man from Baltimore from engaging in his fair share of battles.
The southpaw is one of if not American boxing’s biggest star of recent years.
His devastating 93% knockout ratio has fans on the edge of their seats at all time.
Wins against Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20ko’s), Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero (17-2, 13ko’s) and Isaac Cruz (28-3-2, 18ko’s) put Tank’s name in the upper echelons of boxing.
The former WBA lightweight king was set to face Jake Paul (12-2, 7ko’s) in an exhibition bout in late 2025.
Out of the ring issues revolving around Tank caused Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) to cancel the fight.
A former partner of Davis’s by the name of Courtney Rossel accused him of domestic violence, in an exclusive report by TMZ Sport.
Davis denied nearly all allegations in the civil complaint, maintaining that he never struck or choked Rossel and did not falsely imprison her.
In his answer to the lawsuit, Davis characterized the situation as a calculated shakedown, alleging that Rossel demanded $1.1 million to make the accusations disappear.
He further claimed that Rossel was the initial aggressor and that she provoked the encounter as part of a scheme designed to extract money from him.
Now where does the countersuit come into play?
The countersuit centers around the theory that this accusation on Tank was the reason for the subsequent collapse of an exhibition bout with Jake Paul.
A Netflix event with crossover star Jake Paul was set to be a career high payday of over $20 million.
Rossel’s legal team have wasted no time in responding.
Her attorneys have already filed a motion to dismiss the counterclaim, arguing that Davis cannot sue her for reporting an alleged crime.
This motion foreshadows an aggressive legal dispute forthcoming from both parties.
