Gervonta Davis has left prison as he has been granted bail for his ongoing domestic abuse and attempted kidnapping charges.
Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0, 28ko’s) has been granted bail by the Miami police.
Davis was arrested Wednesday night after a two week search on suspicion of domestic abuse and attempted kidnapping.
The Baltimore born fighter has propelled himself to being one of the figureheads of American boxing.
His last outing ended in a controversial draw against Lamont Roach, with many believing that Davis was fortunate to retain his title.
His fan friendly heavy handed style has seen him stop the likes of Ryan Garcia, Mario Barrios, Isaac Cruz and Frank Martin.
The man that goes by the nickname of ‘Tank’ was set to fight Jake Paul in Miami last November in an exhibition bout that would have been one of the most watched boxing events of the calendar year.
Due to the claims against Davis, Jake Paul, Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix decided to cancel the fight immediately.
Also, the WBA stripped Davis of his 135lbs title.
Gervonta Davis’s attorney has spoken out following the former champions bail.
“Professional boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis bonded out of jail on Thursday following his arrest on charges of attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment and battery”.
“Gervonta Davis is actually a victim here, and I look forward to establishing that shocking narrative in court”.
“What has happened to Gervonta Davis in this case will transcend the initial charges against him and expose a level of criminality which will be talked about long after his charges are resolved”.
It is unclear the timeframe it will take for a conclusion to this ongoing case, thus meaning it is unknown whether Tank will return to the ring in 2026 or at all.
Conor Benn shared his thoughts on the matter, stating that Davis shouldn’t enter a boxing ring again.
