Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has been arrested following a two week man hunt for the former WBA Lightweight Champion.
Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0-1, 28ko’s) has been arrested again.
The former lightweight champion was stripped of his WBA lightweight belt after a warrant was put out for Tanks arrest a number of weeks ago.
The man from Baltimore is one of the faces of American boxing.
He has now been out of the ring for over 10 months, with this spell of inactivity set to continue.
Last time out, Tank got his first blemish on his record, a controversial majority draw to Lamont Roach, a fight where many believed Roach was worthy of a points victory.
Gervonta Davis is one of the sports most exciting fighters in the ring, with a fan friendly heavy handed style, Tank has recorded stoppage victories against Ryan Garcia, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, and Mario Barrios.
However, incidents away from the sport have landed the star behind bars.
Following a two week search, TMZ report that Miami Police authorities have successfully apprehended and arrested Gervonta Davis for an alleged domestic violence offence.
Miami Gardens Police issued a warrant against American Davis on 15 January on charges of false imprisonment, battery and attempted kidnapping, relating to an incident in October.
He was arrested on Wednesday, with bail set at $16,000 (£11,500).
In a statement made earlier this month, the Miami police stated that Gervonta Davis allegedly “grabbed” the victim “by the back of her hair with one hand and by her throat with the other”, before “forcefully” trying to move her.
“Lead detective Gary Florencio obtained and viewed video surveillance footage that co-operates key elements of the victim’s statement,” the statement read.
Davis was set to fight Jake Paul in an exhibition last November, live on Netflix, however due to the lawsuit against Davis, Most Valuable Promotions and Jake Paul cancelled the scheduled bout.
