Front-runner for Tyson Fury ‘warm-up’ fight emerges

The 37-year-old is currently assessing his options.

Tyson Fury is gearing up to face long-term rival Anthony Joshua in the final quarter of 2026.

Before that hotly anticipated showdown, ‘The Gypsy King’ is expected to return to action once more, having fought just once since 2024.

According to Boxing News, the unbeaten 41-year-old Albanian Nelson Hysa will be the man opposite Fury next time we see him in the ring.

Currently ranked No.5 with the WBA and No.11 with the WBO, Hysa represents a stern test for the Morecambe native.

While the deal has not yet been fully finalised, Hysa has emerged as the frontrunner as final details are worked through.

Promoters expect the bout to take place on the undercard of Pierce O’Leary vs Mark Chamberlain in Dublin on August 1.

Is Nelson Hysa a good option for Tyson Fury?

Hysa recently signed with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, making him a stablemate of Tyson Fury.

He has also regularly sparred with the heavyweight star in recent years, meaning the pair have already shared the ring on multiple occasions.

Although the ‘Albanian Eagle’ turned professional at the age of 37 in 2022.

Despite turning professional quite late, he has remained active throughout his four-year career and is now targeting one final opportunity at the highest level.

Having previously been linked with fights against Moses Itauma and Agit Kabayel, a showdown with Fury could represent the ideal swansong before he calls time on his career.
