Frank Warren reveals rescheduled date for Itauma’s return.
Of anyone in the heavyweight division who appears likely to become a world champion at some point, Moses Itauma is considered to be the most promising of them all.
Just 21 years old, the Slovakian-born, British-raised banger is sinister in his quality. With huge power, blinding hand speed, great movement, and terrific technical ability, Itauma is the full package.
Last time out, Itauma showed the world that your chin being uncracked does not mean it is uncrackable, as he felled America’s Jermaine Franklin with an uppercut that was more akin to a one-way trip to the land of REM sleep.
The excitement around him only grew as a result of the performance, with viewers begging to see him out again soon against someone who possessed the capability to ask him the right questions at the right time.
Frank Warren (Itauma’s promoter at Queensberry Promotions) was quick to let everyone know that his beast would be let out of his cage once again in July, and Ariel Helwani revealed an exact date of the 25th of July not long later.
However, then Anthony Joshua’s return against Kristian Prenga was announced, and that is set to take place on that very date.
Suddenly, a clashing of schedules became a potential issue, and there was wonder as to whether it would be sorted out.
Well, it has been, as Warren has now revealed on “The Ariel Helwani Show” that Itauma’s return is being scheduled for a slightly later date.
“He will probably fight now on the 8th of August, and that’s what will happen”, Warren stated. “And look, let me tell you something, he’s [Anthony Joshua] got this warm-up fight comin’ up against this guy he’s fightin’ [Kristian Prenga]. Me, I’d [have] loved him to have the warm-up fight against Moses. That would’ve been a great warm-up fight and a good test for him.”
An opponent for Itauma’s next appearance hasn’t been confirmed, but it will likely be taking place at the O2 Arena in London.
Frank Warren was hoping Anthony Joshua’s “tune-up” fight would have been against Moses Itauma:
