Warren assures fans that Fury vs. Joshua will happen.
By now, the world of boxing is all too familiar with the long-proposed blockbuster between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua ultimately ending in a disappointing manner.
A number of times has this bout been discussed, but the pair of superstars have yet to meet each other professionally.
As a result, many have lost hope of ever seeing them collide, of ever seeing the two heavyweight forces exist in the same ring at the same time.
Certainly, this loss of hope has appeared to be well-founded at times, though recently, fans have been given a reason to revive their anticipation for Fury vs. Joshua to take place.
That’s because discussions have been had, and based on what reports have said, both fighters have reportedly signed to finally meet each other.
However, things like the venue and date have not yet been decided. In fact, we currently don’t even know what country the fight will take place in, with both the United Kingdom and United States being presented as potential locations.
But amidst the uncertainty, Frank Warren has asked for fans to be patient.
“Nothing’s been decided yet”, he told Sky Sports. “Sela, who the contract’s with with Tyson–and I assume the same with AJ–they obviously have their preference [of] where it will go. Netflix, who will broadcast it, they’re going to have their preference. At the end of the day, everybody has got to agree and be satistied.”
Warren was quick to assure that the fight will be taking place, saying, “It’s on. The fight is on. Unless either of them get beaten in these two fights they’re going to have, the fight is on, no problems.”
Joshua will be fighting Kristian Prenga next month, while Fury is expected to have a warm-up bout this August.
“The one thing is, they’ve both signed up for a fight”, Warren continued. “AJ’s got his fight in July, and Tyson I believe will have a fight– I don’t know where it will be yet or the date for it–and once they’re out the way, their fight will go late autumn.
“I don’t see any problems getting this fight on. Everybody will get satisfied. Let’s get them their respective fights out the way. Once that’s done, then there will be an announcement.”
