Frank Warren responds to recent rumour around Tyson Fury fight.
At long last, it appears we may be close to seeing the titanic collision between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua that has come so close to slipping through our fingers on too many occasions.
And while it is not quite here just yet, it’s about as close as it ever has been. So close that it seems only one fight each for both men stands between them meeting each other.
Should the bout come to fruition, it would not only be the biggest all-British fight of our generation, but likely the biggest all-British fight of all time. And for this reason, it would be a tragedy for it not to occur.
Joshua is currently scheduled to have a warm-up in the meantime, set to take on the little-known Kristian Prenga in July. And while it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it is thought Fury will be taking a warm-up of his own.
Who this will be against is unclear, and the same is true for where the fight will be held. However, promoter Frank Warren has now addressed rumours that Fury’s comeback could land on the same card as Joshua’s.
While talking to Sky Sports Boxing about the blockbuster bout between the two British big men, Warren was queried on the potentiality of Fury and Joshua having their respective comebacks on the same show.
Quite simply, Warren replied, “No. That’s not happenin’, no.”
So, it appears Fury won’t be next out in Riyadh, which could mean that a potential destination is already being discussed.
But ultimately, time is our ally in matters such as this.
