Former champion states fans could boycott Fury vs. Joshua fight.
One of the biggest stories in the boxing world currently is Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua, mainly where it will take place and whether it even will.
Because of course, the all-British blockbuster appears likely to be staged at Madison Square Garden in the United States, something that has upset many in the sport.
One of these people is former three-time super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch, who stated to NewsBettingSites.uk,”If this fight is not in the U.K.–after Eddie [Hearn] signed a contract to say the fight is in the U.K.–then he has lost. Unfortunately, he has lost the fight in that sense.
“If this fight is anywhere but the U.K., then Eddie has not done his job. He has not honoured what he said he was going to do. I’m not against Eddie at all, but come on, man. Put this fight on in the U.K. A.J. is your guy. You know what the U.K. fans have done for you. The Americans don’t give a f**k about A.J.
“They’re not arsed. The Americans are not going to care about this pair. They’re not bothered. They’ve seen A.J. go out there and get splattered by the fat man from Mexico [Andy Ruiz Jr.]. They’ve seen him lose to [Oleksandr] Usyk, they’ve seen him get wiped out by Daniel Dubois, then they’ve seen that Jake Paul sh**e.”
Froch further said, “The American fans would not give a toss about Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua, I can assure you. If Turki [Alalshikh] wants the fight over there for whatever reason, it will probably be over there. To answer your question, if this fight is not in the U.K., Eddie has lost the battle. He has not lost the war, but he has lost the battle.
“Fans may say they’re going to [boycott the fight if it’s in America], and they’ll say they won’t watch it. But bottom line is, they’ll still watch it. They’ll be pi**ed off, but they’ll watch it through gritted teeth.”
Never one to mince his words, Froch certainly speaks for many when it comes to this situation.
