Former British world champion joins Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB)

A British former IBF featherweight world champion has signed with Bare Knuckle Boxing in an attempt to become a multi-sport champion

Another former world champion has switched combats in a bid to become a two sport world champion.

This former IBF featherweight world champion has followed in the footsteps of Pauli Malignalli and James DeGale, who have both signed under the BKB banner.

This time it’s Lee Selby’s turn, with the featherweight champion set to make his debut in 2026

Selby began boxing at a young age and enjoyed a successful amateur career, winning several Welsh national titles before turning professional in 2008.

He quickly progressed through the domestic ranks, capturing Welsh, Celtic, British, Commonwealth and European featherweight titles, establishing himself as one of the leading featherweights in the UK.

In May 2015, Selby reached the pinnacle of his career when he defeated Evgeny Gradovich to win the IBF featherweight world title.

He went on to make multiple successful defences of the belt, including victories over former world champion Fernando Montiel and contenders such as Jonathan Victor Barros and Eduardo Ramirez.

His reign came to an end in May 2018 when he lost a close split decision to Josh Warrington in Leeds.

Towards the end of his career, Selby defeated three weight world champion Ricky Burns, whilst also facing George Kambosos Jr before ending his career in defeat to Gustavo Lemos.

Lee Selby has declared why he has decided to sign with BKB, Selby stated: “I’ve achieved everything in gloved boxing – from regional titles to defending my world title five times”.

“Now, bare knuckle is calling. It’s the original, no-filter version of boxing, and I’m excited to bring my speed, skill, and experience to BKB. I’m here to win another world title and show why I’m still one of the best.”

Mike Vazquez, Founder of BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing, said: “Lee Selby is a true champion with an incredible resume, and we’re honoured to have him join our roster.

His technical mastery and championship mentality will light up the trigon. With fighters like Gamboa and Malignaggi already proving the path for elite boxers, Lee’s signing shows BKB is where legends come to chase greatness.”
