Former world champion to make bare-knuckle return.
The world of bare-knuckle boxing hearkens back to a previous time, a much older variant of professional pugilism that was not governed by the Marquess of Queensberry Rules.
This was a period where fighters did not have to fight whilst wearing gloves, which is something that has very much become standard in the modern-day understanding of the sport.
However, outside of boxing, there are promotions which favour the pre-gloved era of combat, and they have become increasingly popular over the last few years.
This is in no small part thanks to the trend of recognisable names from the professional boxing world making appearances in the bare-knuckle circuit, with world-level contenders and even former world champions making a switch to the gloveless style of fighting.
This is becoming more and more common in promotions such as the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing, two of the most popular bare-knuckle companies in the world.
This is set to be the case yet again in BKB 60, the most recent Bare Knuckle Boxing show that was originally set to feature a headliner between former BKFC heavyweight champion Mick Terrill and professional heavyweight boxing journeyman Kamil Sokolowski.
However, following Terrill’s withdrawal, the show will be going ahead with a fight between Leeds southpaw Scott McHugh and reigning BKB super-welterweight world champion Rolando Dy, who is coming off a knockout of former two-weight boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi.
Of the fights on the undercard, there is set to be an appearance from America’s former IBF super-featherweight boxing champion Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz.
Throughout his boxing career, Diaz fought big names like Devin Haney, William Zepeda, and Regis Prograis, having beaten Tevin Farmer to become champion in 2020.
BKB 60 will be taking place on the 10th of October at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, United Kingdom.
