Unbeaten prospect added to McKenna vs. Oliha undercard.
The 10th Zuffa Boxing show is set to feature one of the best nights of action that the Dana White-owned company has ever put on, with the headline act being an interesting middleweight showdown for the vacant IBF world title.
That will be on the line between Aaron McKenna and Etinosa Oliha, a pair of unbeaten contenders from Ireland and Italy, respectively. Taking place in Dublin, McKenna will have home advantage.
On the undercard, there is another interesting bout between Tyler Denny and Callum Walsh, who will also be squaring off at the 160-pound limit.
Now a third middleweight match has been announced for the card, one that will be featuring a former standout in the amateur code.
Sam Hickey (5-0, 2 KOs) is a 26-year-old from Dundee, Scotland, who has been a professional boxer for just under two years. As an amateur, he competed in the 2022 European Amateur Boxing Championships, becoming the first Scottish fighter to win a senior European medal in 16 years when he left with a bronze medal.
Hickey will be taking on Brad Axe (5-1, 0 KOs) in the Scotsman’s second successive appearance on a Zuffa show, having last knocked out Todd Tompkins on the Chris Billam-Smith vs. Ryan Rozicki undercard earlier this month.
That followed after Hickey’s signing with Zuffa in May, having had all of his previous fights on Boxxer shows.
Ultimately, it should be interesting to see where the unbeaten prospect’s career goes from this point on, especially if he defeats Axe in his next fight this August.
