Floyd Mayweather sued over unpaid rent

Floyd Mayweather has been sued over failure of rent payments for his luxury multi million dollar condo in New York City

Floyd Mayweather Jr is back in the news again.

When retiring in 2017 after defeating Conor McGregor, Mayweather was one of America’s biggest and most commercially viable sports stars.

Mayweather went on to win world titles in five different weight divisions — super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, he defeated a string of high-profile opponents, including Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Álvarez and Manny Pacquiao.

Throughout his career, Mayweather was both admired and criticised for his outspoken personality and business-first mentality.

Since retirement, Mayweather has stayed in the sport, having a number of exhibitions, most notably against social media star Logan Paul.

Mayweather recently filed a lawsuit against his long-time broadcast partner Showtime, and his former manager Al Haymon.

The lawsuit alleges that Mayweather is owed more than $340 million.

However, in a turn of events, Mayweather who has the ‘money’ nickname, has been sued himself.

The pound for pound all time great is being sued by the owner of his luxury New York City condo for over $330,000 in unpaid rent and other damages.

According to the lawsuit filed in New York state court, Mayweather has only made one out of five payments owed.

Mayweather has been widely regarded as one of the wealthiest athletes of all time, it is believed that ‘Pretty boy’ Floyd generated over a $1billion throughout his career.

The condo he was renting is set to be listed for sale in the near future, with the price point set to be between $22 million and $24 million.

It is yet to be seen how Mayweather’s lawsuits will play out.

He is set to return to the ring in 2026 in an exhibition this summer in Athens.
