Floyd Mayweather Jr. accuses advisor of stealing $175 million

Mayweather accuses advisor of stealing at least $175 million from him.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is set for a busy 2026. This year, he is scheduled to appear in exhibitions with Mike Tyson and Mike Zambidis and a professional rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

During his career, Mayweather became the highest-earning fighter in boxing history, with his first fight against Pacquiao setting the all-time pay-per-view record that still stands today.

For this reason, the American superstar adopted the ring moniker of “Money” in the latter half of his career, yet he has been involved in several financial disputes in recent times.

This latest episode involves Jona Rechnitz, Mayweather’s former business advisor who is also–unbeknownst to Mayweather when they started working with each other–a convicted felon.

Rechnitz’s criminal convictions include charges in 2016 of federal bribery, something he served five months in prison and under house arrest for.

In addition, he had a civil fraud judgement entered against him by Victor Noval, a Hollywood producer.

Mayweather claims–in a complaint filed in Manhattan County Supreme Court on Thursday–that Rechnitz stole at least $175 million from him, proceeds from sales of real estate, jewelry, and a Gulfstream G-IV private jet.

Mayweather’s relationship with Rechnitz began in 2017, and the complaint claims that Rechnitz gained Mayweather’s trust through presenting himself as a highly sophisticated real estate investor before involving himself in the former multi-division world champion’s personal and business affairs.

Mayweather previously stuck by Rechnitz when a series of theft allegations were made against him last year, yet behind the scenes, Rechnitz was allegedly stealing millions from him.

This purported theft took place across multiple incidents, eventually totalling to a reported $175 million.

Speaking to The Independent on the matter, Leo Jacobs (Mayweather’s attorney) stated, “As they say, the gloves are off. The complaint speaks for itself.”
