Benavidez’s fiancée announces wedding has been cancelled.
David Benavidez has come to be regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, his destructive display over Gilberto Ramirez this May a big reason for that.
That performance got him the unified championship at cruiserweight, making him a three-division champion, having won belts consecutively from 168 to 200 pounds.
Such a distinction has had people saying since that Benavidez is truly one of the best fighters of our era, a rare American force in the heavier divisions of the sport.
In fact, there are those who believe that–especially after Richard Torrez Jr.’s recent loss at the hands of Frank Sanchez–he may just be the next heavyweight champion of the United States.
Maybe he will. Maybe he won’t. What is for sure, though, is that he has already proven his quality, and that is a thing that fans should be very excited about.
He still happens to be the WBC titleholder at light-heavyweight. However, his main priorities appear to be on a unification at cruiserweight with Noel Mikaelian.
After that, Benavidez has stated a desire to face Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, fights that the entire boxing world would give an arm and a leg to see.
However, outside of the ring, the American has now faced an issue in his personal life, something that no amount of time in the squared circle can help with.
In a (since deleted) post on her personal Instagram page, Karina Silva (the fiancée of Benavidez) has revealed that her marriage with the boxing star has been cancelled.
She cited her partner’s “ongoing personal struggles”, but did not specify beyond that. Further details have yet to come out.
David Benavidez’s partner has took to social media announcing that she’s had to cancel her wedding 😲
“The decision to cancel our wedding is because of his ongoing personal struggles that have affected our relationship, struggles that many people are already aware of.”
