Fabio Wardley has expressed his desire to fight Tyson Fury this summer in what would be a mega heavyweight fight for British Boxing.
WBO heavyweight world champion Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19ko’s) has welcomed the opportunity to defend his heavyweight crown against Tyson Fury this summer in the UK.
Wardley was elevated from interim to full champion by the WBO after defying the odds to defeat Joseph Parker at the O2 in October 2025.
The former recruitment consultant from Ipswich has had a remarkable rise to the top of the sport.
With no amateur boxing experience, Wardley started in the white collar scene, before turning professional in 2017.
Nicknamed as ‘War’, Wardley was nominated for both fighter of the year, and knockout of the year in 2025 by the Ring Magazine.
The run to becoming heavyweight champion has included a 1st round knockout in Riyadh against Olympic bronze medalist Frazer Clarke, a knockout of the year nomination against Justis Huni, and a remarkable victory against former world champion Joseph Parker.
With Wardley now owning a quarter of the blue ribbon division’s gold, he has the heavyweight division’s very best wanting to fight him.
Sky Sports have revealed that Fabio Wardley would welcome a world heavyweight title fight against Tyson Fury this summer in a ‘huge event’ for British boxing.
Wardley’s manager Ofo told Sky Sports: “Now the world can see that Usyk was just ducking Fabio by claiming he was fighting Wilder. Clearly that isn’t happening and Usyk is still running away from fighting Fabio.
“He should change his name to Oleksandr Ducksyk”.
“We all know that Tyson doesn’t duck anybody and he’s proved it once again by calling out Fabio”.
“Fabio is more than up for fighting Tyson and would welcome what would be a huge event for British boxing this summer. Lets get it on!”
Fury and his management have declared their intention for Fury to fight three times in 2026.
With a comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov rumoured for April, a summer fight against Fabio Wardley may be another stadium event for the UK boxing calendar.
