The Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois preferred fight date and location has been revealed as negotiations continue for the heavyweight bout.
Fabio Wardley is in talks to face Daniel Dubois in his first defence of his WBO heavyweight world title, with a preferred date and venue confirmed.
Wardley won the interim WBO heavyweight world title in October 2025, in spectacular fashion, knocking out former world champion Joseph Parker in round 11.
Wardley has had a spectacular rise to the top of the sport.
The boyhood Ipswich Town fan was a recruitment consultant and a white collar boxer.
After a string of victories in the white collar scene, Wardley signed with Dillian Whyte, who has navigated his career ever since.
Since capturing the British title, Wardley has gone on a remarkable run of knockouts, defeating Olympic bronze medalist Frazer Clarke at the O2 arena, stopping Justis Huni in front of a hometown crowd at Portman Road, and then the remarkable Joseph Parker stoppage.
Just a number of weeks after the Parker victory, Wardley was elevated to full champion by the WBO, and his first defence is in the works.
Wardley isn’t looking for an ‘easy-touch’ fight and former champion Dubois is in the running.
talkSPORT boxing have confirmed that “they are progressing with a view to getting the fight over the line”.
“The current date and venue being preferred by organisers is May 9 at London’s O2 Arena”.
Both fighters are signed to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, which should make negotiations a more simple task should both teams truly want the fight.
Dubois lost his IBF heavyweight world title against the all time great Oleksandr Usyk last July and has not returned to the ring since.
Nicknamed as ‘Triple D’, Dubois split from trainer Don Charles after the fight, and teamed up with Tony Sims.
In a remarkable U-turn, Dubois and Charles have re-united and will continue their relationship that saw Dubois defeat Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua consecutively.
