The Ipswich puncher is out to assert his dominance.
Fabio Wardley has not been shy about wanting to share the ring with the biggest names in boxing’s glamour division.
Having become the WBO heavyweight champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the title, Wardley is out to prove he deserves it.
The 31-year-old is currently gearing up to put his burgundy and gold strap on the line for the first time, against Daniel Dubois.
Although Wardley is aware of the task in front of him, he is already looking ahead to what the future could hold should he make a successful defence.
During the DAZN coverage of the Moses Itauma vs Jermaine Franklin undercard, Wardley was asked exactly who he would choose to face off against next.
He responded: “Oleksandr Usyk, all day.
“I think my record speaks for itself, and the way I am speaks for itself.
“I only want the best.
“Something I need to repeat is me vs Daniel Dubois is a voluntary defence for me.
“I chose him, I had a list of names in front of me, and I said Daniel Dubois.”
Oleksandr Usyk has made it clear that he is targeting the winner of Wardley vs Dubois on May 9.
Which leaves the Ipswich puncher with just one obstacle standing between him and the fight he wants.
If he defeats Dubois, he will likely move back into contention for a shot at the Ukrainian star.
Wardley’s ambition matches his confidence as he continues to work hard and position himself for bigger opportunities and tougher opponents along the way.
