The 39-year-old has cast his verdict on the outcome of his latest fight.
Oleksandr Usyk went to war with kickboxing superstar Rico Verhoeven in front of the iconic Pyramids of Giza this weekend, in a spectacle that had the boxing world on edge from the opening bell.
The pair traded heavy shots across 11 gruelling rounds before the referee stepped in to wave off the contest, handing Usyk his 25th professional victory – though debate continues to rage over whether the stoppage came too soon.
In only his second outing in professional boxing, Verhoeven produced a fearless and explosive performance against the unified heavyweight champion, threatening to tear up the script with a display few saw coming.
The Dutchman pushed Usyk to the limit under the lights in Egypt, delivering one of the most memorable crossover performances in recent memory before the dramatic ending brought the contest to a controversial close.
Which has left fans and fighters divided over whether Verhoeven was denied the chance to complete a stunning upset.
While the back-and-forth continues online, the Ukrainian star has since shared his opinion on the matter.
Usyk told Boxing King Media: “Listen, I don’t think about this, you know, we have [the] final round, you know, it’s win…
“Oh, I do not think about this, a lot of people said [it was early]
“But listen, it’s not my job, my job is boxing.”
