Exclusive: New date set for Kell Brook Dubai comeback

Kell Brook’s comeback fight in memory of the late Ricky Hatton has officially been postponed.

It is believed that Kell Brook’s return to the ring for the first time since defeating arch rival Amir Khan in 2022 has been postponed.

The former IBF Welterweight Champion had a glistening career, with his crowning moment coming stateside, when he defeated Shawn Porter to capture the world title.

Brook (40-3, 28 KOs) also had the opportunity to fight at Bramall Lane, home of his beloved Sheffield United, and was a large part of Matchroom Boxing’s and Sky Sports dominance in the sport during the 2010s.

Although, when ‘Special K’ fought against boxing royalty, in Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr, and Gennady Golovkin, Brook suffered the three defeats of his career.

Following his retirement, Kell Brook had a baby with partner and former IBF world champion Ebanie Bridges and showed little interest in a return to boxing as he looked toward fatherhood.

However, last September, the boxing world stood still as the late great Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton passed away aged just 46.

After the tragic news of Ricky Hatton passing away, Kell Brook spoke to Sky Sports and said that the death of the ‘Hitman’ had inspired him to return to the ring.

“I’m enjoying my training again, it’s a one-off up until now. But us fighters, when we retire, it never leaves us. It’s always around us”.

“I’m dedicating this fight to Ricky Hatton, to his unbelievable career”.

“I’ve come out of retirement for Ricky.”

This fight was initially set to take place on February 13 against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai.

Al Dah was due to box Ricky Hatton in an exhibition in December and Brook wants to compete in memory of the Manchester legend and raise money for the Hatton Foundation.

Now, Boxing King Media can exclusively reveal that the date of this event has changed and the announcement of an open workout at the Ricky Hatton Gym in Hyde on Tuesday, February 10, three days prior to their supposed showdown in Dubai, has all but confirmed the push-back.

Instead, sources have informed Boxing King Media that Brook and Al Dah will collide in April, with further details regarding an official fight date expected imminently.

That news has since been confirmed as The Agenda announce that Kell Brook will now fight Eisa Al Dah on Saturday April 11 instead.

The new date is confirmation of the new date that Boxing King Media had revealed and means that the fight has been put back two months.

Dominic Ingle, trainer for Kell Brook, has exclusively revealed to Boxing King Media that he is happy with the progress from his boxer in preparation for the fight and he expects Brook to be in even better shape with the extra time given that the delay has granted.

Kell Brook fans can now look forward to seeing their man stepping back into the ring in just under three months.
