Exclusive: Filip Hrgovic contracted to fight top heavyweight after Dave Allen fight

Filip Hrgovic has revealed he is signed to fight a top level heavyweight should he defeat the hometown hero Dave Allen in Doncaster this May.

Filip Hrgovic (19-1, 14ko’s) has been on the cusp of world title opportunities for a number of years now.

For so long the Croatian was the IBF mandatory challenger.

His sole loss on an impressive record came at the most significant of times.

Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21ko’s) defeated Hrgovic in 2024 via an 8th round stoppage, with the man from Greenwich subsequently being elevated to IBF heavyweight world champion in the aftermath.

Since then, its been a patient rebuild for the 33 year old.

Signing with Queensberry Promotions, Hrgovic has been getting his revenge on the British heavyweight scene, with successive unanimous decision victories over Joe Joyce (16-4, 12ko’s) and David Adeleye (14-2, 13ko’s).

Hrgovic will attempt to bash another Brit this May, when he faces fan favourite Dave Allen (25-8-2, 20ko’s) at Doncaster Rovers Football Club.

Whilst headlining a football stadium live on DAZN will undoubtedly bring a lucrative purse for the 6’6 giant, Hrgovic has his sights well and truly on the top of the division.

Currently, the Croatian is ranked number four in the Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings.

Boxing King Media can exclusively reveal that Filip Hrgovic has contractually agreed to fight a top level heavyweight next.

Hrgovic stated:

“I get paid and I move forward for my second fight in a new deal with Queensberry.

“I have in contract a few names that must get delivered”.

“Moses [Itauma], Agit [Kabayel], [Daniel] Dubois, [Fabio] Wardley. Four, five names that must be delivered. It’s guaranteed”.

“We’ll see what happens with Wardley-Dubois, Moses and Agit. But we have an obligation that I must face one of these guys later in the year.”

With the unified champion Oleksandr Usyk declaring he only has three fights left in the sport, the heavyweight division is about to open up.

Rising star Moses Itauma (14-0, 12ko’s) called out Hrgovic in the immediate aftermath of his impressive fifth round knockout win over Jermaine Franklin (24-3, 15ko’s) last Saturday.

With both fighters operating under the Queensberry Promotions banner, this fight seems a serious possibility for late 2026.
