Shane Fury speaks on Joshua’s training situation after Prenga scare.
The world of boxing is currently waiting, waiting for potentially the most lucrative fight that can possibly be made in the sport: the all-British heavyweight throwdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
It has been discussed for years, but has had new life breathed into it over the last few months, with it appearing closer to coming to fruition than ever before.
Of course, neither man currently holds a world title (whereas previously, they held all the marbles between them), but there will be more than belts on the line when they hopefully do collide.
Leading up to their expected bout this November, both Fury and Joshua had a warm-up bout in preparation, ones which happened to be a day apart.
Despite being Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, Fury chose to remain active by taking on Mariusz Wach, stopping his Polish foe in 7 rounds, but failing to impress.
Joshua, on the other hand, had a torrid time against Kristian Prenga, hitting the deck twice in the second round before coming back to win in the second.
With it being Joshua’s first real fight under Oleksandr Usyk’s camp (excluding the Jake Paul affair), it left many wondering how effective this partnership truly is.
In an interview with Boxing King Media, Shane Fury (brother of Tyson) has now had his say on Joshua’s current training situation.
“The people he’s got with the Usyks and that and the Usyk’s trainers, Joshua’s a piece of meat to ’em”, said Fury. “It’s like me dealin’ with a strange fighter. You wanna come to me to train you? Yeah, I’ll train you, but you’re a piece of meat. These people are pieces of meat.
“There’s no love for Joshua [in the Usyk camp]. ‘Put Joshua in’, you know? ‘Put him in and stick in and stay in the ring and just go forward.'”
Ahead of his brother’s long-awaited clash with Joshua, those are certainly some big claims.
