Shalom has hinted at all-British pay-per-view affair.
Earlier today, it was announced that Boxxer had signed a multi-fight deal with DAZN, putting Ben Shalom’s company under the same roof as the likes of Matchroom Boxing, Queensberry Promotions, Top Rank, and Golden Boy Promotions.
This means that the majority of the top promoters now operate under the same roof, and that is something very good for the sport. This will undoubtedly lead to many great nights for boxing fans all over the world.
In the case of Boxxer, their relationship with DAZN will officially kick off with the rematch between Callum Simpson and Troy Williamson, a domestic clash for the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles.
The two first squared off in December, providing observers with an entertaining and action-packed spectacle that concluded with a multi-knockdown stoppage win for Williamson.
Though Williamson was expected to face Simon Zachenhuber on the Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov undercard, his slot on the show fell through when it was announced that Simpson had activated his rematch clause.
And so, after a little while of speculation, the sequel to the rivalry has been officially announced for this August, again at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.
But ahead of that, Boxxer’s Ben Shalom took part in an interview with Boxing King Media, hinting at plans for a future pay-per-view show.
Upon being asked if talks were taking place for a fight between Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr., Shalom simply stated, “We’re in talk[s] with Chris’s team. We’re in talks with Chris’s team about a big fight.”
When he was quizzed on whether those talks involved Brook, Shalom replied, “No comment.”
An all-British fight between two big names, Eubank Jr. vs. Brook is bound to interest more than a few. And with both men’s next moves uncertain, their schedules have never been more open.
