Eddie Hearn tells Terence Crawford that one man beat him

Hearn tells Crawford that he lost one particular fight.

Universally considered one of the very best fighters of the 21st century, Terence Crawford exited boxing in a way very few fighters get the privilege to do: on his own terms.

The American won titles in five separate divisions, becoming undisputed champion in three of them. It was the third time he did so that he defeated Canelo Álvarez to pick up all the marbles at super-middleweight.

That occurred almost a year ago in September of 2025, and in December of that same year, Crawford would hang up the gloves and call it a day on his time as a professional boxer.

That made Crawford one of only a select few in the sport who never suffered a loss, having retired with a victory in each of his 42 professional contests. And ultimately, it is such a stat that tends to stick in the minds of fans the most, as an unblemished record is very often an indicator of complete dominance at the top level.

Only, Eddie Hearn would seemingly disagree with the idea that Crawford should be undefeated, as the Matchroom Boxing promoter stated as much to the Omaha man himself.

During the TNT broadcast of Friday’s heavyweight bout between Andy Ruiz Jr. and Damian Knyba, Hearn was talking about Ruiz’s then-most recent ring appearance against Jarrell Miller, stating, “Don’t forget, last time, we saw him against Jarrell Miller. You know, I thought he [Ruiz] lost that fight, to be honest with you.”

Hearn then turned his attention to Crawford and continued with, “I also thought you lost that fight against [Israil] Madrimov, but that’s another story, you know?”

Though seemingly somewhat tongue-in-cheek, Hearn served as Madrimov’s promoter when he defended his WBA super-welterweight title against Crawford on the same card as Ruiz vs. Miller two years ago, so it is likely that he does truly hold this opinion.

The Madrimov encounter would ultimately be likely the closest of Crawford’s career, with the Nebraskan ultimately triumphing by two tallies of 115-113 and one of 116-112.
