Eddie Hearn teases major news on social media.
Eddie Hearn is no worse than Britain’s (and arguably, the world’s) second-best promoter, and plenty even consider him the very best.
Head of Matchroom Boxing, Hearn’s stable contains some of the very best fighters in the world, with Dmitry Bivol, Jesse Rodríguez, Shakur Stevenson, and Jaron Ennis all fighting under the Matchroom roof.
Having first signed with DAZN in 2018, Matchroom’s continued success over the years has ensured a firm and long-lasting partnership under the streaming app, delivering major fight nights to fans across the globe.
Matchroom have since been joined under DAZN by promotional rivals Top Rank and Queensberry Promotions, the latter of whom Matchroom have formed a friendly rivalry with and even joined forces with to stage big cards.
The most major of these was the Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5v5 event, a show featuring five boxers from both stables who all went at each other for promotional bragging rights.
Queensberry would end up winning every fight on the show, and despite calls from fans to repeat this formula, it has yet to happen.
Nevertheless, the respect that exists between the two promotions is the type of thing boxing requires to keep on going, and they both continue to put on great events separately.
Earlier today, Eddie Hearn posted an Instagram Story, writing a message that simply read, “Historic day”, followed by a crown emoji.
To what this refers is not clear, but one possible option is Katie Taylor’s final fight at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
However, that is purely speculation and not in any way official. Ultimately, the boxing world will have to wait and see just what this “historic day” Hearn makes mention of turns out to be referring to.
