Eddie Hearn states that Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua “must take place in the U.K.”

Hearn dismisses recent Fury-Joshua rumours.

The titanic showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is bound to do numbers equally as titanic when the two British heavyweight goliaths (both literally and in terms of star power) collide in their expected meeting later this year.

It is an affair that everyone in boxing has been begging for, and interest in it has remained strong over the years. At long last, it appears that we will be getting what we want.

Joshua has the perceived small matter of Kristian Prenga to get through first, and Fury is expected to be taking on a warm-up opponent of his own.

When those two matters have been dealt with, there should be nothing left from stopping the two superstars trading leather. That’s what the idea is, at least.

In reality, anything could happen. It is looking very promising at the moment, though.

Given it’s an all-British fair, it seemed a given that it would be taking place in Britain. Only, it was revealed recently by Eddie Hearn that the U.S. was also a potential location.

In fact, yesterday, the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles was specifically named as a possible venue. However, it appears now that that won’t be the case.

Despite recent rumours, Hearn stated that the U.S. simply can’t be where Fury-Joshua takes place, given the official stipulations of the contract.

“There has been some murmuring of the fight taking place in the U.S.”, said Hearn to BoxingScene. “The contract specifically states that the fight must take place in the U.K. Right now, there is no official confirmation.”

So, British fans should be able to breathe a sigh of relief.
