The Matchroom CEO has given his verdict on what could happen if he went toe-to-toe with Dana White.
Eddie Hearn and Dana White have been locking horns repeatedly over the past year.
Their clashes have been fueled by competing visions for boxing’s future.
Especially after White openly declared his intention to disrupt the traditional boxing hierarchy and challenge the influence of established promoters.
Tensions escalated even further in February when Conor Benn made the surprising decision to part ways with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and sign with White’s Zuffa Boxing.
Benn’s move was seen as a major coup for White, signalling that his efforts to lure top talent away from the sport’s established promoters were bearing fruit – and leaving Hearn visibly frustrated.
Although Hearn went on to reveal he has penned a deal with the UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, under the newly launched Matchroom Talent Agency.
Their latest moves have not only intensified the feud but also sparked widespread speculation about how the ongoing battle between two of combat sports’ most powerful figures could reshape boxing in the years to come.
During an appearance on Piers Morgan’s “Uncensored” show this week, White even appeared to call out Hearn for a fight.
The UFC CEO said: “Listen, if Eddie wants to box, we can box. We can box if Eddie wants to box.
“I don’t think Eddie wants to box.
“Yeah, [I’d be confident of winning]. Listen, back in the day, I used to box with all the guys, boxers and UFC guys. I have boxed.
“Absolutely [we could box].”
Hearn has since responded to the call-out.
He explained to iFL TV: “He’s genuinely called the fight on.
“Listen, [reporters] always say to me, ‘Would you fight [fellow boxing promoter] Frank Warren? Would you fight Ben Shalom? And I’ve always said yes.. or [talkSPORT’s] Simon Jordan or whatever.
“Because I know I’d win those fights. But I watch Dana sparring…
“By the way, of course, I’d do it, because how could you say no?
“Then you’d be a p****, wouldn’t you? By the way, Netflix would pay an absolute fortune, or live on DAZN – the global home of boxing.
“So I’d probably make a fortune to do it. And if I got chinned, I get chinned.
“But I’d probably spark him out, to be fair.”
Both men have previous boxing experience and maintain relatively good physical condition, though White is a decade older than Hearn.
In addition, Hearn stands at 6ft 5in, while White is estimated to be around 5ft 11in, making the matchup far from even in terms of size.
Despite these differences, a clash between the two would undoubtedly be a major event under any rules.
