Eddie Hearn makes Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua claim: “There will be no fight”

Hearn makes big claim about Fury vs. Joshua.

The long-awaited clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua appears to be as close to being made as it ever has. Only, there is a catch.

The location of the fight (the one thing that many used to assume would never be a problem) has now actually proven to perhaps be the biggest problem.

Of course, a fight between two British boxers would presumably take place in the United Kingdom. However, that has appeared less and less likely as time has gone on.

As of recently, in fact, it has been reported that there is virtually no hope left of the matchup taking place on British soil. At the moment, Madison Square Garden is being considered the most likely area for it to be held in.

The New York venue is a historic one, a place where some of boxing’s biggest affairs have been held. Only, U.K. fans just wish for it to take place on their side of the world above all else.

One person who has loudly voiced his disapproval of the fight taking place in the United States is Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter at Matchroom Boxing.

Speaking to The Punch Podcast, Hearn has now stated, “The other day, they kind of wrote to us, ‘Just to let you know, we’d like to announce the fight for New York.’ I said, ‘No.’ And by the way, there might even be a situation where they go for it and do announce it [for New York], and you’ll probably see me comin’ out quite quickly and say[ing], ‘No fight.’

“Because I promise you, if they announce that fight without an agreement in place to change the venue, there will be no fight, and we ain’t bluffin’. So, we feel really strongly that this fight should be in the U.K.”

At the end of the day, nothing is for certain in boxing.
