Eddie Hearn issues warning to Tyson Fury ahead of Anthony Joshua showdown

The two compatriots are preparing to finally settle their long-standing rivalry in the ring.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have been linked with a blockbuster showdown for half a decade.

Now, the long-awaited fight is finally on, with both men reportedly signing a deal to meet before the end of 2026.

Fury has fought just once since suffering back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

He returned to winning ways with a victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, but ‘The Gypsy King’ is eager to have another outing before facing Joshua.

However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, does not believe an additional fight is necessary.

Hearn told Sky Sports: “[Tyson Fury] said to us, ‘You don’t need another fight’.

“We had four [actually five and a half] rounds with Jake Paul, in two years of boxing.

“Come on, you have 12 rounds with Makhmudov at Tottenham. But you still feel like you need more rounds to prepare yourself for Anthony Joshua?

“I tell you something now. More rounds ain’t going to help you.

“When I saw Makhmudov in that fight, I just knew what AJ is going to do to him.

“If we keep this confidence, [and] if we can go in there and put a great performance together on July 25, we go into that Tyson Fury fight with so much momentum.

“This will be a major moment for the sport, but July 25th has to be done.”

Anthony Joshua is preparing to face Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on July 25.

The former heavyweight champion’s return comes after months of rehabilitation following injuries sustained in a tragic car crash that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends.
