Negotiations are entering final stages for Matchroom Boxing to stage the emotional Croke Park homecoming for Katie Taylor.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Eddie Hearn has declared that staging a Katie Taylor homecoming at the iconic Croke Park will be the proudest moment of his career.
Katie Taylor is arguably the greatest female fighter of all time.
She’s defeated everyone she has ever faced, and is a pioneer for women’s boxing.
A famous trilogy with all time great Amanda Serrano ended 3-0 to the Irishwoman.
Taylor is a two time undisputed world champion.
Her previous homecoming fights were staged at the 3 Arena in Dublin, creating some of the best atmospheres in recent times.
Outside of all the belts, Croke Park has always been the ultimate dream.
Previously, career long promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the cost to use Croke Park as a venue is 3x as much as Wembley Stadium.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Eddie Hearn has given a positive update on negotiations to stage this homecoming.
Hearn stated: “It’s Croke Park or bust”.
“We’re in a good place, it’s not confirmed but we’re making huge progress in that respect”.
“Planning for the end of August, early September, I don’t want to get too ahead of myself”.
“We believe now we have the support of Croke Park, we know we have the support of the Irish people, let’s just create something people will never forget.
“This is above and beyond boxing, this is folklore in this country”.
The event won’t just be boxing. It’ll be a celebration of Irish sport and culture and heritage and music and all that kind of stuff”.
“Don’t get me wrong, there’ll be some great fights on the card.”
