Eddie Hearn announces super-featherweight title fight “virtually agreed”

Eddie Hearn has announced that a deal with Top Rank is virtually agreed for Raymond Ford to challenge O’Shaquie Foster for the world title.

Matchroom Boxing have done fight deals with a lot of fighters in recent years, and this theme is set to continue.

It has been a new age of boxing in that case.

Cross-promotional relationships have always tended to be fractious.

None more so in the 2010s between the two giants of British boxing, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren.

For years on years Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions did not do business together.

It led to countless high level fights falling by the way side, but the fans were just accustomed to it at that point.

Not until 2023 did Hearn and Warren meet.

Riyadh Season’s introduction to the sport  not only brought the two together, but all of the sports major promoters were involved in Riyadh Season shows.

A major promoter that Matchroom have always been able to do business with is Top Rank.

In recent times, the major American outlet Top Rank have been without a broadcast contract.

Recently, Top Rank’s Emanuel Navarette headlined a Matchroom show.

This theme is set to continue with Top Rank and Matchroom both now on DAZN.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Eddie Hearn stated:

“We’re going to be working with (Top Rank) a lot more coming up”.

“Terms are virtually agreed for Raymond Ford to fight O’Shaquie Foster”.

O’Shaquie Foster (24-3, 12ko’s) is the WBC super-featherweight champion of the world.

Raymond Ford (18-1-1, 8ko’s) is the former WBA featherweight champion, and will bid to become a two weight champion.

His only blemish to date came in a split decision defeat to Nick Ball in the Queensberry vs Matchroom 5V5.
