Don Charles has reunited with the former IBF heavyweight world champion.
Don Charles and Daniel Dubois parted ways in August last year, ending a successful two-year partnership.
Their split came just one month after Dubois suffered a second brutal knockout at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk.
‘Triple D’ subsequently began training under Conor Benn’s head coach, Tony Sims.
However, it was confirmed in a statement by Dubois’s business manager, Riz Khan, on Monday afternoon that he will no longer be operating under the guidance of Sims.
The heavyweight star is now reversing his decision and will return to the PUG Farm Gym to train with Charles.
While some have criticised Charles’ decision to work with the 28-year-old again just five months after their shock split, the renowned trainer has made his opinion on the matter crystal clear.
He explained to Boxing King Media: “Why shouldn’t I take him back? I’m delighted to have gotten that call – this is what I do for a living.
“And do you know how many years it takes to be in this position? I’ve spent 25 years to be in this position…
“It’s taken 25 years of coaching to inherit a fighter in the name of Daniel Dubois at that level, the calibre of the fighter he is.
“Yeah, why shouldn’t I? Listen, I’ve got grandchildren, I’m getting old. I’ve got grandchildren to feed.
“I’ve got a family to feed, and this, having such fighters, makes my life [easier]. Who doesn’t want an easier life? I do.
“I’m getting old. And when I’m blessed that a fighter I was working with had great success together. Why not?
“He put his hand out to come back, and I received it, and it’s God’s work.”
